Gas Fireplace Installation Done Right — From Design to Final Inspection

V2 Gas Fireplace Pros is a gas-first installation company. We don't install wood-burning units or electric fireplaces — gas is all we do. Every install starts with a free in-home visit where we measure your space, assess your gas supply, and recommend the right unit for your needs and budget. We handle everything: unit selection, gas line sizing, venting design, permit pulling, framing and finishing coordination, installation, calibration, and final inspection. We install every major brand including Heat & Glo, Majestic, Napoleon, Mendota, Valor, Empire, Heatilator, and Monessen. All work is performed by licensed gas technicians and backed by our workmanship guarantee.

    What We Install

    Direct-Vent Fireplace Inserts

The most popular upgrade — a sealed combustion insert dropped into your existing wood-burning fireplace. High efficiency, no drafts, real flame. We size, vent, and finish to match your décor.

    New Construction Gas Fireplaces

Built-in direct-vent or vent-free units for new homes and additions. We coordinate with your builder on framing, chase design, gas rough-in, and finish surround.

    Wood-to-Gas Conversions

Full tear-out of old wood-burning systems, firebox prep, new gas burner and log set, venting upgrade, and surround rebuild. Turn your messy fireplace into a clean, efficient gas unit.

Gas Log Sets (Vented & Ventless)

Drop-in log sets for existing fireboxes — realistic ceramic fiber logs with a glowing ember bed. Vented and vent-free options based on your fireplace and code requirements.

    Outdoor Gas Fire Pits

Drop-in fire pit kits, custom built-in ring burners, and linear flame features. We run gas lines, install shut-off valves, and set up match-lit or electronic ignition systems.

    Outdoor Gas Fireplaces

Full outdoor fireplace builds with weather-rated direct-vent units, stone or stucco surrounds, and proper drainage and clearances.

    Gas Line Extensions

New gas line runs from your meter or LP tank to the fireplace location. We size the pipe correctly for BTU load and pull the permit.

    Remote & Smart Control Upgrades

Add wall switches, hand-held remotes, Wi-Fi smart controllers, or thermostat integration to any new or existing gas fireplace.

Vented vs Ventless: Which Makes Sense in Florida?

Most national install guides treat vented and vent-free as roughly equal options. In Florida, they're not. Here's the honest breakdown:

    Direct-Vent (Sealed)

A sealed glass front with a co-axial pipe that draws combustion air from outside and exhausts the same way. No room air involved.

    • Safe, code-compliant in every Florida county
    • No room oxygen depletion, no humidity added to your home
    • Higher heat output and efficiency (70%+)
    • Slightly higher install cost (venting required)

    Vent-Free

No vent — exhaust goes into the room. An oxygen-depletion sensor (ODS) shuts the unit off if room O₂ drops.

    • Cheaper install (no venting)
    • Adds significant moisture to the room — a real issue in humid Florida
    • Restricted or banned in some FL jurisdictions and bedrooms
    • Strong odor on first burns until the burner seasons in

For 90% of Florida homes, we recommend direct-vent. Vent-free still has a place — small accent units in well-ventilated great rooms — but the long-term comfort and resale story is better with a sealed direct-vent install.

    How Our Installation Process Works

    1. Free in-home consult. We measure, look at your gas supply, check venting paths, talk style and budget. You get a written, line-itemed quote — not a "starting at" number.
    2. Unit selection. We help you pick the right model from Heat & Glo, Majestic, Napoleon, Mendota, Valor, Empire, Heatilator, or Monessen based on the heat load, look you want, and budget.
    3. Permit pulled. We file in our license, not yours. You stay out of the county loop entirely.
    4. Gas line + venting. We size and run the gas line for the BTU load, install the co-axial vent through wall or chase, and prep the rough opening.
    5. Set, fire, calibrate. Unit set into the framed opening, gas connected, leak-tested, fired, log set placed per manufacturer diagram, flame pattern dialed in.
    6. Final inspection. We schedule the county inspector and meet them on site. You don't need to be there.
    7. Walk-through. We show you how to operate, swap batteries, and what annual service looks like.

Is a Gas Fireplace Worth It in Florida?

It's a fair question — we have maybe 15 nights a year where you'd actually want heat. Most of our customers don't install for heat; they install for resale, ambiance, and the 2–4 cold snaps a year when central heat alone feels stale. A direct-vent gas insert routinely appears in Realtor.com listing photos and adds documented resale value in the $3K–$8K range on most homes. Compared to electric — which looks like a TV pretending to be a fire — gas is the only option that delivers real flame, real flicker, and real radiant heat for the few nights you want it.

The honest "don't bother" case: if you only watch TV in your great room and the wall is already busy, an electric insert is fine. For everything else — formal living rooms, primary bedrooms, lanais and outdoor kitchens — gas wins on every axis except up-front cost.

    Frequently Asked Questions

How much does gas fireplace installation cost?

Most direct-vent inserts run $4,500–$8,500 installed. Gas log sets are $1,200–$2,800. New construction units range $5,500–$11,000. Wood-to-gas conversions run $9,000–$18,000. Outdoor fire pits start around $1,800. We give a firm written quote after our free in-home estimate — see our full installation cost guide.

Do I need a permit to install a gas fireplace?

Yes — almost every jurisdiction in Florida requires a permit for gas line work and fireplace installation. We pull the permit in our name, handle the paperwork, and meet the inspector so you don't have to deal with the county.

Can you convert my wood-burning fireplace to gas?

Yes — that's one of our most popular services. We remove the old grate and ash dump, prep the firebox, install a gas burner and log set or a full insert, upgrade venting, and rebuild the surround if needed.

    How long does installation take?

A direct-vent insert typically takes 1–2 days. A wood-to-gas conversion takes 2–4 days. New construction installs depend on builder coordination — usually 2–3 days once the rough-in is complete. Outdoor fire pits are often done in a single day.

    What brands do you install?

We install and service Heat & Glo, Majestic, Napoleon, Mendota, Valor, Empire, Heatilator, Monessen, Lennox, Astria, Superior, and more. We help you choose the right unit for your space and budget.
